The Rose Magazine
It’s been a while since I last created a print freebie, so today I am giving away a magazine template. The idea first came to me while reading The Economist; the brilliantly typeset pages (by Erick Speakermann) make me nostalgic for the days of print, modern-day blogging can lack the character and readability of a well type-set page. The Rose Magazine freebie contains an Indesgin and a MS Word version. Click more to get the template.
The cover is a minimalist centre-aligned layout, the focus here is on the flower (as it always should be!) but you also have the opportunity to add the issue number, the date, and a number of keywords.
The first pages are always the most important they should summarise the entire magazine and give the reader an overview of whats to come. This is why I always prefer content pages with pictures, as you know a picture is worth a thousand words!
Most of the articles have a two or three column layout this allows for scan-ability and legibility, reduced line-lengths typically increase comprehension; One thing that so frustrates me about modern blogs is their lack of attention to this crucial detail!
The Rose Magazine template was created for blogger looking to present their work professionally. Featuring a classic style with a focus on simplicity. You will find the template in both Indesign and Word versions, where possible try to use the Indesign version as the typography is better.
The file can be downloaded from the links bellow:
As always I have used multiple mirrors to share the file as nothing is more frustrating than a dead link. Feel free to re-share on your own blogs to make sure this freebie is never lost (just remember to link back)
As always remember to like and share on social media, every little helps!
What did you think of the template? Would you like to see more of these? Feel free to let me know your thoughts and feelings in the comments below.
