Floral jewelry like flower necklaces, floral crowns and other complex floristry creations have stormed the bridal and fashion pages of 2015 and 2016, but for those wishing to create a simple yet elegant flower accessory there’s nothing better than a hair comb with freshly cut flowers. As it is easy to make at home in less than an hour and does not require too much practice in order to achieve great results.
If you’ll recall a while ago I have created a DIY floral headress which is a fantastic hair decor but making one is quite time-consuming and requires lots of flowers and hence it is hard to make at home. For a while, I wanted to create a simpler floral DIY accessory that everyone can recreate at home and flower hair comb just fits to bill.

Materials Needed:
Hair Comb
Floral Wire
Floral Tape
Scissors
Flowers of your choice
But before we move on to the recipe I would like to note that not all flowers are suitable for flower jewellery designs since there is no water source. Thus, it is essential to avoid water thirsty flowers (like hydrangea and sweet peas). The best flowers for this kind of designs would be roses, ranunculus, succulents, lavender, waxy, orchid and various foliage.
1. Trim your flowers down to about 4cm -5cm depending on the length of your hair comb.
2. Wire your flowers and wrap them with floral tape. I would recommend to pierce floral wire into the stem where possible and then cover the stem and wire with the floral tape. This technique works perfectly for roses. But when wiring eucalyptus leaves you would have to wrap the wire around the stem and then cover with floral wire. If you never used floral tape before note that floral tape sticks by pulling and wrapping tight.
3. Wire the flowers into clusters where necessary. Big flowers can be kept single.
4. Start wiring flowers to the flower comb. Simply wrap the wire end sticking from your first cluster around the comb and make sure that flowers lay neatly. Then add a second cluster facing the other way to the comb. Trim excessive wire.
4. You’re done! You can also use hot glue, lovely ribbon to protect your hair from the wire, or to cover up any stems or wire you were unable to cover. But in most cases this is not necessary as the floral wire is easy to manipulate.
